What is Appa?
Appa is a virtual youth mentorship program pairing students with Certified Wellness Coaches to develop the social-emotional skills and mindsets they need to be successful. Working in-line with HCAI employer grant terms and funding payment structure. One wellness coach allotment supports at least 30 students/hours per week. An option for care that supports students after school and on weekends. Paired with world-class evidence-based content created.

Mentors that reflect the diversity of your students
Mentorship works best when students see themselves in their mentors. That’s why we empower teens to choose a mentor that can relate to their experience–someone who “gets it”.
Appa mentors come from diverse backgrounds and are highly vetted, background-checked, and trained. Students talk with their mentor via video chat and text on their schedule.

Evidence-based, personalized curriculum to meet each student’s goals
Mentors guide teens through Appa’s curriculum that teaches evidence-based skills to improve motivation, confidence, and resilience.

Appa exists to fill a critical need
Too many young people told us they lacked mentors in their lives. Our mission is to make sure every student has a mentor when they need one
Support that is truly equitable, accessible, and culturally relevant
Unlike many interventions, mentorship has a long history of success in minoritized communities because it is destigmatized, representative, and culturally responsive.
Too often, communities of color, queer communities, and immigrant communities fall through the cracks because existing systems aren’t designed for them. Appa bridges the gap through proactive multi-lingual outreach to families and a deep commitment to culturally-responsive mentorship.
Appa engages the hardest to reach students
By building meaningful relationships with students and using technology to meet young people where they are conveniently, Appa engages students more effectively than any other student-driven support program available.
Implement in days, not months
Appa’s implementation team streamlines the rollout process to reduce staff and admin burden and connect students to mentors within days of launch.
